Interview with Phil Svitek from 360 Creative Coach
I met Phil in 2018 when we began working on his novel Elan, Elan. We workshopped the outline together, and I stood by with my figurative red pen as he wrote the first draft and polished it into a novel that he is now preparing to query. Phil has even turned the tables and brought me into his new screenwriting project, giving me an opportunity to learn more about his preferred medium of writing.
Phil and I sat down yesterday and talked (with a lot of hand gestures on my part) about the craft of storytelling, the balance of wanting to make your project perfect and wanting to move on to the next big thing, killing your babies, loving your antagonist, and some of the challenges of being a creative in today’s world.
What questions do you have about the creative process? What challenges are you finding when it comes to your own craft?
